The 2015 events were:
The first event was our traditional Easter Day service at 2 p.m. on
Sunday, April 5th when the service was taken by Harold Stuteley,
with duets by Irene & Andrew. There was tea to follow and everyone enjoyed the afternoon.
Dates of other events were:
Walks: July 4th round Grisedale, and August 8th round Hardraw, Sedbusk and Simonstone.
Songs of Praise at 3:30 p.m.: July 5th with Janet & Andy from Burnley; and
August 9th: Sunday-School Choruses with Irene & Andrew.
Harvest: Saturday, September 5th at 7:30 p.m. with the Gunnerside Choir. Supper and sale of produce followed.
Carols by Candlelight: Saturday, December 5th at 7:30 p.m. with
Chris Fawcett of Cautley was postponed because of floods.
2014 events were:
On May 4th at 2:30 p.m. Revd Richard Teal led a service at Garsdale Station
with the
the Hawes Silver Band,
to celebrate
the 25th anniversary of the saving of the Settle-Carlisle line.
There was tea to follow at the chapel. The chapel was packed with 75 people.
On Saturday, July 12th we had a walk round Semerwater.
On Sunday, July 13th at 3:30 p.m. there was be a Songs of Praise with Janet & Andy Kay of Burnley. Tea to follow.
Our traditional Grisedale walk was on Saturday, August 2nd, meeting at HJ
chapel at 1 p.m. or Grisedale at 1:20 p.m. This was followed by tea at the chapel
On Sunday, August 3rd there was Songs of Praise at 3:30 p.m. with Irene & Andrew, followed by tea.
The Harvest Festival & Supper was held on September
13th (not the 6th) at 7:30 p.m.
"Young
Voices" from Hawes brought a programme, and the chairman was
Revd Harold Stuteley of Sedbergh. There was supper to follow,
followed by a sale of produce.
In November, we held a Remembrance Service and unveiled a plaque to
commemorate soldiers from the area who lost their lives in two world
wars.
The collection of £200 was split between the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes.
The December Carols by Candlelight with Askrigg Ladies was packed out, with 107 people fitting into the chapel.
Thank you to everyone who
supported each year of successful events, and enabled the building
to be kept in good condition.
We still have some repainting to do, and some exterior woodwork to replace, so your help is appreciated.
